Build-a-Blog

So, once upon a time, the ladies over at CodeGrrl wrote a Build-a-Blog tutorial for people wanting to get started with PHP. I loved the idea, but alas couldn't stand the execution; the code was... not nice, to put it mildly. So, instead of just bitching about it; I decided to re-write it. Then I got bored and forgot about the project, but nevermind that.

Anyway, the original three parts to the tutorial survive, and here they are! Note that these tutorials aren't really trying to teach you to write a fully-featured weblog script for your site (if you want one of those; go grab WordPress like everyone else) so much as they are an attempt to teach some baisc (but useful) PHP/MySQL in a way that is hopefully meaningful... and maybe even a little useful. Maybe.

Please note that at the current time, these all open off-site.

  1. The Database
  2. Getting Started With PHP
  3. My First Function
